A pregnant woman has reportedly given birth inside a commercial bus in the Oshodi area of Lagos State after going into labour while travelling, triggering reactions on social media.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, with a video showing the unusual delivery circulating online and attracting attention from commuters and other social media users.
Details surrounding the birth remained unclear as of the time of filing this report. The identity of the woman, the sex of the baby and whether medical personnel assisted during the delivery had yet to be confirmed.
It was also uncertain whether the mother and newborn were taken to a hospital for medical examination and post-delivery care.
However, the development is not the first time a woman has delivered a baby in a public transport setting in Lagos.
On March 27, 2024, a woman, Kubura Oluyemo, reportedly gave birth to a baby girl inside a Bus Rapid Transit vehicle while travelling from Ikorodu to Lagos Island. A nurse who was among the passengers assisted with the delivery.
Similarly, on February 19, 2024, another pregnant woman delivered a baby boy at Onipanu Bus Stop along Ikorodu Road, with the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency providing assistance before the mother and child were taken to a hospital.
In February 2017, a woman also gave birth to a baby girl inside a commercial bus at Sabo, Ikorodu, with traffic officials and sympathisers assisting before they were taken to Ita-Elewa Health Centre.
