Composer of Akungba anthem, Akintuyi passes on at 73

Richard Abiloro Akintuyi, the man who composed an interesting anthem for the University Town of Akungba Akoko in Ondo State, has passed on peacefully, at age 73. 

The septuagenarian, who hailed from Akua quarters breathed his last, yesterday in Lagos, a family source said.

The musical legend, according to analysts, composed the folkloric anthem, having dreamt of  Akungba becoming a prosperous  Town, as well become a safe haven for investors. 

The Anthem, which predated the establishment of Adekunle Ajasin University in Akungba Akoko (AAUA), a 21st century citadel of learning, envisaged a land of abundance.

It was gathered that sheer strength of  passion  that Mr. Akintuyi had for music spurred him to compose another thoughtful song to mark the 10th year anniversary of Klub 80, an  association of  prominent personalities from the Varsity Community. 

The music maestro, had his primary education at Akungba where he developed reading and writing skills, which he upgraded to earn an electrical engineering certificate. 

Friends and families described Richard as an altruistic man who served humanity despite the challenges that life threw at him. 

In the words of the Paramount ruler Oba Alale of Akungba, HRM Isaac Sunday Adeyeye, Ajimo III,  the composer would "forever be remembered as an illustrious son of Akungba Akoko, who left his unforgettable footprints in the sand of time.

Funeral service for the late composer has been slated for 13 July, 2022 at Jakande estate in Lagos, from where his remains would be moved taken home for burial on July 15 in Akungba.
