The Akoko North East Youth Forum (ANEYF) has postponed its much-anticipated election earlier scheduled to hold on Saturday, October 5, 2025, citing security concerns and unforeseen circumstances.
Sources within the electoral committee confirmed that the decision was taken to safeguard participants and ensure the credibility of the process. They said the development became necessary after intelligence reports indicated possible threats that could disrupt the peaceful conduct of the exercise.
A member of the committee, who preferred anonymity, said: “It’s important we conduct an election that is peaceful, transparent, and credible. We cannot afford to put the lives of our members at risk.”
The committee assured stakeholders that a new date would be announced once adequate security arrangements are in place and all conditions for a smooth election are met.
Delegates and youths across the local government area have been urged to remain calm, law-abiding, and patient as the forum works towards a credible electoral process.
The postponement, according to the organizers, reflects ANEYF’s commitment to ensuring a fair, transparent, and secure democratic process that truly represents the will of its members.
