Akoko North West was abuzz on Saturday as Hon. Bankole Mohammed used the 8th-day Fidau prayers for his late father, Chief Mohammed Obanla, to empower loyal APC supporters, with millions of naira reportedly distributed during the event.
What began as a solemn memorial quickly turned into a display of political influence in Ogbagi Ward 6.
Hon. Mohammed dedicated the empowerment to his mentor, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior, describing him as the driving force of politics in Ondo State.
The show of generosity reinforced the prominence of the BTO political structure in the local government.
APC members and community leaders were visibly impressed as funds circulated rapidly among attendees, highlighting the BTO family’s commitment to loyalty and service.
Hon. Musa Jimoh, APC Chairman of Ogbagi, who personally received one million naira, praised BTO’s leadership and pledged continued support to the political dynasty, noting the transformative impact of Tunji-Ojo’s leadership on the community.
The prayers honoured Chief Mohammed Obanla, a respected teacher and community builder.
Religious leaders, including Chief Imams of Ogbagi, Afin, and Ikare, celebrated his legacy, with the Chief Imam of Ikare offering a special prayer for BTO’s continued support for the Akoko region.
Young entrepreneurs, party executives, and ward leaders benefited from the empowerment, with disbursements running into millions of naira, leaving a lasting impression on attendees.
The event also attracted prominent figures, including the Executive Chairman of Akoko North West, Hon. Esan Owolabi, representatives of traditional rulers, political leaders, and senior Imams from across Akoko, showcasing the combined strength of faith, community, and political influence in the region.
