The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday removed several of its prominent members from its fold during the 2025 National Convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, citing anti-party activities.
Those affected include the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), Austin Nwachukwu and a number of others.
Their expulsion was endorsed by a wide majority of delegates attending the convention.
The announcement was contained in a statement released on the party’s verified social media platforms.
It read, “In a landmark move to restore unity, discipline, and focus ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at its ongoing 2025 National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, has expelled high-profile members Nyesom Wike, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), former Governor Ayo Fayose, Austin Nwachukwu, and several others.”
Party officials said the overwhelming adoption of the decision reflected a renewed push to sanitise its ranks.
The statement further noted, “The decision, which was promptly ratified by an overwhelming majority of delegates, underscores the party’s commitment to eradicating internal divisions and anti-party conduct that have plagued its progress.”
