The Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji (FEDPOLEL), Ondo State, has witnessed unprecedented growth in academics, infrastructure, and student development under the leadership of its Rector, Dr. Ademola Iyanda Ebeloku.
Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday ahead of the institution’s Second Combined Convocation and 10th anniversary celebrations, Dr. Ebeloku said teamwork, strategic planning, and strong town-gown relations had propelled the Polytechnic to become a competitive hub for technical and vocational education in Nigeria.
“Since I assumed office in April 2023, the institution has grown in leaps and bounds. Through collaboration and innovation, we have expanded academic programmes, enhanced infrastructure, and strengthened human capacity to position FEDPOLEL as a globally competitive institution.”
Dr. Ebeloku highlighted the Polytechnic’s achievements, including 15 accredited National Diploma and 10 Higher National Diploma programmes, a robust Entrepreneurship Centre that trains students to become job creators, and the Directorate of Career Services, established in 2024 to prepare graduates for global employability.
He also noted major infrastructural developments, such as solar-powered streetlights, laboratories, ICT facilities and ongoing construction of hostels for male and female students, funded through TETFund, federal interventions, and internally generated revenue.
Ahead of the convocation, 3,901 ND and 498 HND students from multiple academic sessions are expected to receive diplomas, with several achieving distinction and upper credit grades.
Distinguished Nigerians, including former Ondo State Governor Dr. Olusegun Mimiko and Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, will be honoured with Fellowship Awards for their contributions to education and community development.
Looking to the future, the Rector said the Polytechnic would continue to expand into emerging fields such as Renewable Energy, Agro-Processing, Creative Technology, and Urban Planning, while deepening industry partnerships and enhancing human capital development to meet national and global demands.
