A member of the House of Representatives, representing Akoko South West/Akoko South East Federal Constituency, Asiwaju Adegboyega Adefarati, has presented a Toyota Hiace ambulance he facilitated to Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA).
Speaking during the presentation, Adefarati said the gesture reflected his commitment to improving health and safety facilities in institutions across his constituency, noting that quality healthcare was essential to academic excellence.
He explained that the ambulance, fitted with an oxygen system, suction device, automatic stretcher and full resuscitation kit, would boost the university’s emergency response capacity.
He added that the ambulance climate control system, dual ventilation and internal communication devices made it a reliable vehicle for medical transportation.
Adefarati also commended the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olugbenga Ige and the university community for their efforts in raising the institution’s profile, assuring them of the Adefarati family’s continued support.
Responding, Prof. Ige expressed appreciation on behalf of the university, describing the lawmaker’s interventions as consistent and impactful.
He said Adefarati had earlier facilitated a borehole project before informing the school of his plan to present an ambulance.
The VC described the donation as timely and commendable intervention that also honoured the legacy of Adefarati’s late father.
Also speaking, the Student Union President, Comr. Salami Akeem, expressed gratitude to Adefarati for the gesture, describing the ambulance as a critical addition that would enhance the safety and well-being of students across the campus.
