Ondo State Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has restated his confidence in the Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, describing reports of an alleged plan to remove him as baseless.
Speaking on Monday at the maiden Annual General Meeting of the Amotekun Corps Cooperative and Thrift Society, the governor said claims circulating on social media about pressure to sack the security chief were nothing more than deliberate attempts to create tension within the corps.
“I pass a vote of confidence on the Amotekun Commander,” Governor Aiyedatiwa stated emphatically.
“There are no social media narratives that can remove you. Your commitment to this work is evident.”
He explained that some individuals had attempted to stir up trouble by lodging complaints designed to force Adeleye out of office but insisted the move would not succeed.
“They reported you to me so that I could sack you,” he said. “But I have told him, he is going nowhere.”
Aiyedatiwa added that his administration remained committed to strengthening the Amotekun Corps and working with security agencies to maintain peace across the state.
