BREAKING: Bayelsa Deputy Governor collapses

Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, was thrown into concern on Thursday when Deputy Governor Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo reportedly collapsed in his office and was quickly taken to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa.

According to eyewitnesses, the deputy governor appeared seriously unwell when he was transported to the hospital’s emergency unit at about 1:30 pm, prompting immediate medical attention.

Senator Ewhrudjakpo is now stable and receiving care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at FMC. While no official explanation has been provided for his sudden illness, sources suggest it could be linked to a possible cardiac issue.

A source familiar with his routine described the deputy governor as highly committed to work, saying, “He’s a workaholic; he should find time to rest.”

Security personnel have secured the hospital premises, and several senior government officials reportedly visited to check on his wellbeing.

Efforts to get a comment from his media aide, Mr. Doubara Atasi, were unsuccessful. Nonetheless, hospital insiders confirmed to our correspondent that Senator Ewhrudjakpo is receiving prompt and adequate medical attention and remains stable.
