The Police Service Commission (PSC), in partnership with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has commenced the recruitment exercise for Police Constables and Specialist personnel for the 2025/2026 intake.
The move follows President Bola Tinubu’s recent directive for the enlistment of 50,000 new police officers to boost internal security and strengthen the nation’s response to rising crime.
According to the PSC, the recruitment portal will be open from December 15, 2025, to January 25, 2026, with applicants required to meet strict eligibility and qualification standards before applying.
Prospective candidates must be Nigerian citizens by birth, physically and mentally fit, free from financial embarrassment and criminal records, and must fall within the approved age brackets—18 to 25 years for General Duty and up to 28 years for Specialist roles. Female applicants are also required not to be pregnant at the time of training. Height and chest measurements apply for General Duty applicants.
Applicants are expected to present educational qualifications, including a minimum of five credits for General Duty and relevant trade certifications for Specialists. Required documents include FSLC, SSCE/NECO certificates, birth certificate, and LGA or state of origin certificate. Specialists must additionally upload trade test certificates and, where applicable, a valid driver’s licence.
The application process is strictly online via https://npfapplication.psc.gov.ng, where candidates must provide their National Identification Number, email address, phone number and upload all necessary documents.
The categories available include General Duty Constables and Specialist cadres such as Medical Assistants, Drivers, Mechanics, Forensic Assistants, Dog Handlers, Marine personnel, Artisans, Tailors, IT Technicians, and members of the Police Band section.
Shortlisted applicants will undergo physical and medical screening, aptitude tests and background checks.
