An aspirant for the Ondo State House of Assembly, Akoko Constituency II, Prince Olayinka Stephen Akerele, has described leadership as a sacred duty anchored on responsibility and selfless service to humanity.
Akerele made the remark on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, during a familiarisation visit to leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress in Ese/Afin Ward 9, Akoko, where he engaged party stakeholders ahead of the forthcoming contest.
Addressing the gathering, the aspirant, who aligned his ambition with the party’s Renewed Hope Agenda, said politics should be driven by service to the people rather than personal enrichment.
“Politics is a call to service for the betterment of humanity. If I am given the opportunity, I won’t use it for my own selfish interests but for the betterment of my good people of the constituency,” he said.
In his remarks, the APC Ward Chairman, Comrade Olaremi Wilson Adekanbi, welcomed Akerele and urged him to remain consistent and committed to the ideals he had expressed, assuring him of the backing of party members.
“He is a known son of the soil, and he will surely have the support of his people,” Adekanbi said.
Also speaking, a senior party leader, Elder S. M. Akintola, advised the aspirant to promote unity and inclusiveness within the party structure.
“You have been a part of this party since day one. Nobody in this ward will ever say you’re a new face; on this note, we will give you all the necessary support needed,” he said.
Another party stalwart, Mr. Fadumiye Raphael, commended Akerele’s character and expressed confidence in his capacity to provide effective representation if elected.
“You have been a good person since I have known you; I am sure you will represent us well. I pray that Almighty God will see you through,” he stated.
The meeting was attended by several party leaders and faithful, including Elder Adekanbi, Mr. Ajulo Sunday, Mr. Mustapha Ehindero, Mr. Adams Kabir, Mr. Ismail Mukail, Mrs. Akerele Moriatu, Mrs. Motun Omolaye and other APC members.
