Popular Nigerian comedian, Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ejekwu, known as Sabinus, has spoken about a painful experience from a past relationship, saying he regretted an expensive gift he gave out of love.
Sabinus made the revelation during a recent TikTok livestream with content creator, Sandra Benede, where he reflected on heartbreak and described love as “cruel.”
The comedian said he could relate to the emotional struggles of fellow TikTok star, Hamzat Habeeb, popularly known as Peller, following his highly publicised breakup with his girlfriend, Elizabeth Amadou, also called Jarvis.
Peller has been in the news in recent weeks after displaying emotional distress online and being involved in a car accident reportedly linked to the heartbreak, which led to his hospitalisation and subsequent arrest in line with traffic regulations.
Recalling his own experience, Sabinus disclosed that he once went to great lengths to please a former lover, only for the relationship to eventually collapse.
“Jarvis has finished Peller. I have been in Peller’s situation before. Love is cruel. I once gifted a girl a Range Rover because of love. She later left me. I regretted it. So nobody should blame Peller,” he said.
The comedian urged Nigerians to show understanding toward Peller, noting that emotional pain can drive people into actions they may later regret.
Sabinus’ comments come weeks after he confirmed in December 2025 that his marriage to his wife, Ciana Chapman, had ended, barely a year after they tied the knot in a private ceremony in 2023.
