A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress and former Ondo State Commissioner for Agriculture and Forestry, High Chief Olayato Aribo, has condemned the attack on Ipele town in Owo Kingdom, describing the incident as barbaric and unacceptable.
In a statement personally signed by him and made available to journalists from his country home in Imoru, Ose Local Government Area, Aribo expressed deep concern over the New Year’s Eve attack, which resulted in the destruction of the Divisional Police Station in the community.
The APC chieftain, popularly known as Oyato, lamented that the assault was carried out by yet-to-be-identified gunmen, noting that such acts of violence pose a serious threat to public safety and peace in the state.
He, however, expressed confidence that the swift intervention of the Ondo State Government and security agencies would yield positive results, including the arrest of those responsible for the attack.
Aribo also commiserated with residents of Ipele and officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force affected by the incident, urging them not to be discouraged by the development.
“I use this medium to register my deep commiseration with the good people of Ipele in Owo Kingdom and the Nigerian Police Force over the deadly attack on the Divisional Police Station by yet-to-be-unknown gunmen. I also salute our security agents for their prompt responses to salvage the situation,” he said.
He added that the people of Ondo State stood firmly with all security agencies in their efforts to safeguard lives and property across the state.
Aribo concluded by offering prayers for the safety, peace and improved welfare of citizens of the state in the New Year.
