A commercial motorcyclist was critically injured on Sunday after a road accident at the Araromi area of Akure, Ondo State, leaving his passenger with injuries.
The incident, which occurred at about 9:10am, involved a Toyota Camry with registration number FFN 262 PU and a commercial motorcycle.
A witness at the scene said the car reportedly veered off its lane before colliding with the motorcycle conveying two persons.
The crash led to the rider losing one of his legs, while the passenger sustained injuries of varying severity.
Bystanders were said to have swiftly moved the injured victims to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care.
The driver of the car was reported to have absconded shortly after the collision, abandoning the victims and the vehicle.
As of the time of filing this report, there was no official response from security agencies, while residents urged authorities to address reckless driving along the busy Araromi corridor.
