‘Enough is enough’ - Ose leaders fume, demand Reps seat, insist on imbalance

Leaders from Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State have called on political stakeholders to ensure that the House of Representatives seat for the Owo/Ose Federal Constituency remains in Ose, citing the need for fairness and equitable representation.

In a statement issued on Tuesday under the aegis of Concerned Ose Leaders, the group expressed concern over ongoing political discussions surrounding zoning arrangements within the constituency.

The leaders maintained that retaining the seat in Ose was necessary to address what they described as an imbalance in the distribution of political offices between Ose and Owo local government areas.

“It is on record that the immediate past governor of the state is from Owo, while the current deputy governor also hails from the same axis. In addition, several key political appointments are occupied by individuals from Owo,” the statement read.

They noted that Ose Local Government currently holds only a commissioner position and lacks significant federal appointments, a situation they said raises concerns about inclusiveness.

“In contrast, Ose is left with minimal representation at both the state and federal levels. This calls for deliberate efforts to ensure fairness in the sharing of political opportunities within the constituency,” the leaders stated.

The group stressed that their position was not intended to create division but to promote unity, equity and a sense of belonging among constituents.

“This call is driven by the need to strengthen inclusiveness and ensure that all parts of the constituency feel adequately represented. Democracy thrives when there is balance and fairness,” the statement added.

They further urged party leaders and decision-makers to consider Ose Local Government in the next House of Representatives election, describing the demand as a matter of justice and sustainable peace.

“We appeal to stakeholders to act in the spirit of equity by allowing Ose to produce the next representative. This is not merely political but essential for harmony and stability within the constituency,” the group said.

The statement was signed by representatives of concerned leaders in Ose Local Government and dated April 22, 2026.
