FULL PROFILE: AAUA names Babalola as new Registrar

Adekunle Ajasin University (AAUA), Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, has announced the appointment of Dr. Grace Olubunmi Babalola as its new substantive Registrar.

The appointment was ratified by the university’s Governing Council during an emergency meeting on March 16, 2026, in Akungba-Akoko. Dr. Babalola’s five-year tenure officially commenced on April 1, 2026, taking over from Dr. Olugbenga Arajulu, whose tenure ended on the same day. The announcement was made in a statement signed by the Deputy Registrar, Information, Protocol and Public Relations Unit, Victor A. Akinpelumi.

Dr. Babalola brings decades of experience in university administration, having previously served as the Deputy Registrar in charge of Academic Affairs. She joined AAUA in 2009 as Senior Assistant Registrar and Head of the Legal Unit, progressing through key administrative roles over the years.

Her career path includes positions such as Acting Development Officer (Endowment), Principal Assistant Registrar in the Vice Chancellor’s Office, Head of Academic Staff Establishment (Personnel Division), and Deputy Registrar overseeing Council Affairs before her leadership in Academic Affairs.

A distinguished law graduate from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Dr. Babalola graduated as the best student in her faculty in 1999 with a Second-Class Upper Division. She was called to the Bar in 2001 after completing her studies at the Nigerian Law School, Abuja.

She also holds an MBA, a Master of Laws (LLM), and a PhD in Law from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, earned in 2009, 2018, and 2024 respectively. Her academic career includes part-time lecturing since 2019 and participation in conferences in the United Kingdom, South Africa, and other international platforms.

Dr. Babalola is an active member of numerous professional bodies, and she has published in reputable journals. She is also set to release three books focusing on education law, university leadership, and governance practices.

Her contributions have been widely recognized, earning her several awards and commendations from AAUA’s Senate, Governing Council, Vice Chancellor, and other professional institutions for excellence in administration and leadership.
