A former House of Representatives aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, Hon. Tosin Morufu Ibrahim Murphy, has distributed more than 300 bags of rice to Muslim faithful in Akoko North-West/North-East Federal Constituency of Ondo State ahead of the Ileya celebration.
The distribution, which took place in Akoko on Tuesday, drew party stakeholders, community leaders and supporters who commended the politician for what they described as a timely humanitarian gesture.
Speaking at the event, several beneficiaries praised Murphy for his generosity and commitment to the welfare of the people despite not emerging as the party’s candidate during the primary election.
One of the beneficiaries described him as “a compassionate leader who always identifies with the people,” adding that the intervention would go a long way in supporting families preparing for the festive period.
Islamic clerics at the programme also applauded the APC chieftain, describing him as a dependable and people-oriented politician who has continued to maintain strong ties with constituents.
They offered prayers for his continued success and influence in the constituency, noting that his popularity among residents had remained intact despite the outcome of the primary.
The event was coordinated by the Director-General of his campaign organisation, Hon. Peter Orojo, who supervised the distribution exercise.
Many of the attendees said the gesture had further strengthened Murphy’s relationship with the people, with some insisting that his commitment to grassroots support and community welfare had endeared him to residents across the constituency.
