Media entrepreneur and publisher, Dele Momodu, has denied speculations that he is considering a vice-presidential bid alongside former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, declaring that he has no intention of contesting in future elections.
Momodu, in a statement posted on his Facebook page on Thursday, described the claim as misleading and urged his supporters to disregard it.
He said the report, which circulated in the form of a campaign poster, was a distraction from ongoing efforts to build a formidable opposition alliance.
“When I first saw the poster, I took it as a joke meant to distract us. I will appreciate it if my friends and associates ignore it,” he said.
The Ovation publisher stated unequivocally that he would not be participating in any electoral race, adding that his focus is on supporting a coalition of political parties aimed at unseating the ruling All Progressives Congress.
“I’m not running for any office again. My interest is to humbly support the coalition working to reposition the country,” he added.
Momodu further disclosed that he would throw his weight behind candidates of the African Democratic Congress, noting that the party has capable individuals who can contest elective positions.
His remarks come amid intensifying political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, as opposition figures explore coalition strategies to challenge the APC.
The media figure also decried what he termed persistent attacks on Atiku, urging political actors to embrace civility in their engagements.
He warned against inflammatory rhetoric across party lines, including verbal assaults on President Bola Tinubu, stressing the need for issue-based politics.
Momodu reiterated his commitment to supporting any candidate that emerges from his party, maintaining that his priority remains strengthening opposition unity ahead of the next electoral cycle.
