The Independent National Electoral Commission has updated its official register of political parties to recognise former Senate President, David Mark, as National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress.
The update, which also lists former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, as the party’s National Secretary, followed a ruling by the Supreme Court delivered on Thursday.
A check of INEC’s website as of 11pm showed the revised leadership structure of the ADC, with Dr Mani Ahmad named as National Treasurer, Akibu Dalhatu as National Financial Secretary, and Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor as National Legal Adviser.
The development comes on the heels of the apex court’s decision which set aside an earlier status quo ante bellum order that had effectively stalled the leadership dispute within the party.
The Supreme Court subsequently directed that the matter be returned to the Federal High Court for further proceedings.
The latest update by the electoral body signals official recognition of the new leadership arrangement pending the outcome of the case at the lower court.
