LG Chairman shuts school as teacher faces trial over alleged abuse of pupils

The Chairman of Ungogo Local Government Area of Kano State, Tijjani Amiru Bilyaminu, has ordered the closure of Al-Hadeed Private School following allegations involving one of the school’s teachers.

The decision came after a magistrate’s court remanded the teacher, identified as Uncle Kamal, over allegations of abusing some minor pupils.

The council chairman said the temporary closure of the school was necessary to allow proper investigation into the matter and ensure justice for the affected children.

He also reiterated the commitment of the local government to protecting the rights and welfare of children across the council area.

According to him, anyone found guilty of violating the rights of minors would face the full weight of the law.

The teacher was arraigned before the magistrate’s court on Monday on allegations involving four underage pupils.

Counsel for the prosecution, Badamasi Gandu, told the court that medical examinations conducted on the children supported the allegations brought against the suspect.

The court subsequently ordered that the defendant be remanded in a correctional facility, while the case was adjourned until June 6 for further hearing.
