The ancient town of Ifon in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State witnessed a large political gathering on Tuesday as residents, party supporters and stakeholders converged for the official launch of the mobilisation and sensitisation campaign of the Renewed Hope Street Crusaders ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The event, held at the Ifon Town Hall, marked the commencement of grassroots mobilisation by the group in support of the second-term bid of President Bola Tinubu.
The organisation is believed to enjoy the backing of the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
Led by its National Coordinator, Yinka Richards, the mobilisation train attracted a large turnout of residents and members of the organisation, who received the team with music, celebrations and cheers.
Speaking at the event, Richards said Ose Local Government was deliberately chosen as the starting point of the campaign because of his personal connection to the area.
According to him, the initiative was designed to take the message of the Renewed Hope agenda directly to grassroots communities through street-to-street engagement, market sensitisation and direct interaction with residents.
“Our mission is to take the campaign directly to the people. We are moving into the streets, markets and communities because every vote matters,” he said.
Richards described Tunji-Ojo as a responsive leader whose style of leadership deserved support and encouragement.
He also stated that Ondo State had continued to gain national relevance through increased federal representation, adding that sustaining such influence required continued support for Tinubu and his administration.
The coordinator further disclosed that he previously served as a Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor but resigned after becoming dissatisfied with what he described as inadequate attention to the development and political interests of Ose.
He claimed that several efforts to attract development projects and improve political representation for the area did not yield the expected results.
Richards urged residents to actively participate in the electoral process by obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards, stressing that the future of governance depended largely on voter participation.
“We need everyone to be involved. Beyond today’s gathering, we will continue with sensitisation campaigns and assist residents through the registration process to ensure nobody is left behind,” he added.
The event featured participants from six political wards within Ose Local Government Area, while organisers said mobilisation activities would continue in other wards, particularly within the Ire Akari axis.
As part of efforts to improve inclusiveness, Richards also unveiled a support platform aimed at assisting residents with registration processes and addressing complaints of unofficial charges during enrolment exercises.
