The Ondo State Police Command has arrested and charged four suspected members of a kidnapping and murder syndicate allegedly responsible for the abduction of Kehinde Yisa and the killing of a 50-year-old man, Bako, in Ago Baale, Idoani, Ose Local Government Area of the state.
The command's spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday, saying the suspects were apprehended after an extensive investigation and coordinated operations across Ondo, Oyo and Ogun states.
The suspects were identified as Umar Ibrahim, 23; Musa Abdullateef, 26; Ojo Sikiru, 40; and Oseni Waheed, 43.
According to the police, the case was initially reported at the Idoani Police Division following the March 3, 2026 incident before it was transferred to the Command's Anti-Kidnapping Squad for a detailed investigation.
Jimoh stated that operatives deployed intelligence gathering, forensic tracking and other technological tools to unravel the crime and trace members of the syndicate.
He explained that three of the suspects were arrested at different locations in Oyo State, while Waheed was apprehended in Ogun State following intelligence-led surveillance.
"The painstaking investigation yielded positive results as operatives successfully arrested four principal suspects identified as Umar Ibrahim, Musa Abdullateef, Ojo Sikiru and Oseni Waheed," the statement read.
The police spokesman added that preliminary findings revealed that the suspects made confessional statements regarding their alleged involvement in the conspiracy, kidnapping and murder.
He noted that the operation highlighted the growing capacity of the command in deploying intelligence-led policing strategies and modern investigative techniques to combat violent crimes.
Commending the operatives, the Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command, Felix Ohagwu, praised members of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad for their professionalism and persistence in tracking the suspects across multiple states.
"The success recorded in this case reflects the command's determination to sustain the fight against kidnapping, armed robbery, murder and other violent crimes threatening public safety," Ohagwu was quoted as saying.
The commissioner further assured residents that the command would continue to pursue criminal elements and ensure justice for victims of crime.
Following the conclusion of investigations, the four suspects were arraigned in court, while efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the syndicate who may still be on the run.
