The All Progressives Congress candidate for Akoko South-West Constituency II in the Ondo State House of Assembly, Niran Olanusi, has commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa over plans to recruit 1,000 youths into the Ondo State Forest Guard Corps, describing the initiative as a strategic step towards strengthening security across the state.
Olanusi, in a statement on Wednesday, said the proposed recruitment reflected the governor’s commitment to protecting lives and property while addressing youth unemployment.
He noted that the initiative demonstrated proactive leadership at a time when insecurity remains a major concern in many parts of the country, adding that the move would enhance efforts to safeguard communities, particularly those located around forest areas.
According to him, the recruitment programme goes beyond job creation and represents a deliberate investment in the security and stability of Ondo State.
The APC candidate said the growing security challenges across the country require innovative responses from state governments, stressing that the governor's decision to strengthen local security structures showed foresight and responsiveness.
He added that the planned engagement of youths in the Forest Guard Corps would not only provide employment opportunities but also encourage greater community participation in security management.
