The Governing Council of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, has approved the appointment of Mr. Bamidele Olukoju as the institution's fifth substantive bursar.
The appointment was ratified at an emergency meeting of the council held on June 25, 2026, following the recommendation of the joint Council/Senate Selection Board, which shortlisted him as the most suitable candidate after a competitive selection process.
A statement issued by the university's Deputy Registrar, Information, Protocol and Public Relations / Head, Radio AAUA 90.3 FM, Victor Akinpelumi, said Olukoju emerged ahead of two other candidates, with his performance during the interview highlighting his professional competence and administrative experience.
Olukoju, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, is also a registered member of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria.
He obtained a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from the University of Abuja in 2006 and a Master's degree in Business Administration from the National Open University of Nigeria in 2017. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in Accounting at Adekunle Ajasin University.
The new bursar has over 20 years of experience in banking, financial consultancy and university administration. Before joining AAUA in 2017, he worked with several organisations, including Pinnacle Microfinance Bank, J. Walter Udoeyop & Co., Essential HealthCare Ltd., Olive Pearls Ltd. and SAOK Consults.
Within the university, he served in several capacities, including Head of the Loans and Advances Unit, Supervisor of Accounting and Treasury Services, Divisional Head of Management Services and Chief Accountant.
He also previously worked at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, where he served as Head of Budget, Controls and Expenditure Unit and later attained the rank of Principal Accountant.
According to the statement, Olukoju has chaired several strategic committees, contributed to the implementation of the university's electronic payment system and played a key role in coordinating the preparation and audit of the institution's financial statements.
His appointment takes effect from July 1, 2026, following the expiration of the five-year tenure of the outgoing bursar, Dr. Tobi Orina, on June 30.
The university expressed confidence that Olukoju's professional experience and commitment to transparency would strengthen financial management and support the institution's continued growth.
