Former Ondo PDP guber aspirant joins APC

A former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State, Bosun Arebuwa, has defected to the All Progressives Congress alongside other PDP members in the state.

Arebuwa, who contested the PDP governorship ticket before the 2024 election, led the defectors to the APC, declaring his intention to work for the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The defection took place on Friday at the International Culture and Event Centre, Akure, where Arebuwa said his political supporters were drawn from more than 3,000 political units and 203 wards across the state’s 18 local government areas.

Explaining the decision, the former aspirant said he and his supporters were impressed by the performance of President Bola Tinubu and had decided to support his bid for a second term.

Arebuwa said he would deploy his political experience, capacity and resources towards mobilising support for Tinubu and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections.

He said, “We have left the PDP and want to join hands with others to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office. Mr President has done well, and we shall use our resources to support him.”

Receiving the defectors on behalf of the Ondo State APC leadership, Chief Olusola Oke, SAN, urged them to take their mobilisation efforts to their respective wards and local government areas.

Oke welcomed Arebuwa into the party, describing his entry as an addition to the APC’s activities in Ondo State, and urged the new members to work for the party at the grassroots.
