A woman, Adijat, has told a customary court in Ibadan, Oyo State, how she allegedly had her lover, Sikiru, arrested by Amotekun after accusing him of neglecting their child.
The dispute came before the Grade A Customary Court sitting in Mapo, where Sikiru had sought an end to his relationship with Adijat, alleging that she was troublesome, violent and fond of disrupting his activities.
Sikiru told the court that he met Adijat on the street, took her home after they got acquainted and subsequently had a sexual relationship with her, which resulted in the birth of their child.
He alleged that Adijat later became difficult to live with, frequently visiting his residence to pick fights and causing disturbances within his compound. He also accused her of visiting his workplace and creating scenes that affected his business.
Sikiru said he approached the court because her alleged conduct had worsened, adding that he feared she could harm him. He consequently prayed for the termination of their relationship and an order restraining her from harassing or threatening him.
However, Adijat denied being solely responsible for the problems in the relationship, accusing Sikiru of failing to provide adequate care for their child.
She told the court that Sikiru abandoned much of the responsibility for the child's welfare to her and allegedly failed to provide financial assistance when the child fell ill and was hospitalised.
The woman further disclosed that she resorted to involving the Amotekun security outfit, which led to Sikiru's arrest over the alleged neglect. She also asked the court to grant her custody of the child and compel Sikiru to contribute to the child's upkeep.
The court subsequently brought the relationship to an end after both parties agreed to separate.
