2027: We will kill whoever rigs – Ex-Dep Senate President

Former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege has threatened violence against anyone caught rigging the 2027 general elections, warning that those involved would face deadly consequences.

Omo-Agege, who is seeking election to represent Delta Central Senatorial District on the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, made the threat while addressing supporters at a political gathering.

“I want to make the news again. Anybody who rigs the election on that day, we will kill him! If you don’t value your life, come and rig the election,” he said.

The former lawmaker accused those allegedly planning to manipulate the polls of jeopardising the future of Nigerians and their children, declaring that he would not rely on the courts to challenge electoral fraud.

“They’re rigging your future. They’re rigging the future of your children. We’re waiting for them. Let them try it. It is rig and die,” he added, vowing that his supporters would resist any attempt to manipulate the results.

Omo-Agege previously contested the Delta governorship election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress but lost to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who was then the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Following Oborevwori’s defection to the APC, Omo-Agege sought the party’s ticket to return to the Senate but lost to the incumbent senator, David Dafinone. He subsequently joined the NDC and declared his intention to unseat Dafinone.

Announcing his defection in May, Omo-Agege said the decision followed consultations with political associates, supporters and stakeholders, adding that he believed the NDC offered a credible platform for advancing the interests of Delta Central and the country.

He described the party as committed to inclusion, accountability, grassroots participation and true federalism, while expressing confidence that it could provide an alternative to the existing political order.
