A 16-year-old girl in Delta State has alleged that she was lured to a hotel in the Ughelli area, where two teenage boys reportedly sexually assaulted her and recorded the incident on their mobile phones.
The teenager made the allegation while speaking about her ordeal in an interview with the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, after one of the suspects, identified as Godstime, was arrested.
According to the victim, a friend known as Nice Money invited her to the hotel, assuring her that someone would provide her transport fare. She said she was surprised to meet two other boys when she arrived at the location.
She alleged that a disagreement broke out after she met the teenagers and that one of them slapped her before ordering her to undress. She claimed the two boys subsequently sexually assaulted her and filmed the incident.
The girl further alleged that the suspects demanded additional sexual acts after she pleaded with them to delete the video. She said Goodluck and Godstime assaulted her repeatedly before she eventually escaped from the hotel while they were asleep.
The incident reportedly attracted public attention after a video circulated online showing the suspects allegedly mocking the girl after she disclosed that she was menstruating.
Confirming the arrest, Edafe said one of the suspects who allegedly participated in recording the video had been taken into custody. He assured that the suspect would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Godstime, while speaking after his arrest, admitted that he participated in the sexual assault and the recording of the video. He, however, disputed the teenager's account of the number of times she was assaulted, claiming that he and Goodluck had sex with her twice.
The suspect also admitted that he had been communicating with the girl on WhatsApp before she came to the hotel. He said the video was recorded after the boys became angry when the girl told them she was menstruating.
Edafe warned that the suspect would face the consequences of his alleged actions, stressing that the police would pursue the case in line with the law.
