A Federal Road Safety Corps officer attached to the RS 8.28 Igede Unit Command in Ekiti State, SMI GM Kolawole, has sustained a leg fracture after he was hit by a motorcycle rider who was allegedly trying to evade arrest.
As reported by Roundoff News, the incident occurred on Thursday, October 1, 2026, along the Ado-Iyin Road when the rider, identified as Master Oladapo Success, reportedly sped off while attempting to escape from FRSC personnel who had flagged him down.
According to the FRSC, the rider was allegedly driving recklessly at high speed when he collided with Kolawole, leaving the officer with a serious leg injury. The injured official was immediately taken to a hospital by his colleagues for medical attention.
The agency said the motorcyclist allegedly pretended to have lost consciousness after the crash, a development that reportedly drew sympathy from passers-by and created tension at the scene.
The situation, however, was brought under control following the intervention of policemen from the New Iyin Police Division, who prevented the incident from escalating into a confrontation between members of the public and the FRSC personnel.
The Ekiti State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Corps Commander Sanya Adeoye, expressed concern over what he described as the persistent reckless conduct of some motorcycle operators in the state.
Adeoye said the command would intensify enforcement against traffic violations capable of causing crashes, adding that the FRSC remained committed to creating a safer motoring environment and reducing road traffic crashes to the barest minimum.
The sector commander also directed the command’s Intelligence Office to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
He appealed to motorists, particularly motorcycle riders, to comply with traffic regulations, warning that reckless riding could endanger the lives of road users and law enforcement personnel. Adeoye later visited the victims at the hospital and wished them a speedy recovery.
