The assertion that “ OWO IS ONE” was profound and conspicuous during the 2016 gubernatorial election in Ondo State, and the slogan helps to galvanize overwhelming supports and votes for our Son, Arakunrin Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN.
The over 32,000 votes gathered by AKETI in the said election was the highest votes ever recorded by a candidate in the history of Owo Local government political participation. The rest as people says, is history!
However, the forth coming primary of ALL Progressive Congress(APC) in Ondo State would be more tougher than the 2016 primary, owing to the emergence of an aggrieved platform within the party called Ondo APC UNITY FORUM, the seemingly partial stand of Adam Oshiomole, the National Party Chairman and the newly found stability within the opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), which necessitated the victory recorded by the party in 2019 general election.
Putting those aforementioned scenario into proper perspectives, it obvious that the enthusiasm showed by our people in 2016 gubernatorial election through the “ OWO IS ONE” slogan should be repackage to accommodate the interests of the likes of USO,Emure-ile, Ipele e.t.c , refine and capture the mood of aggrieved Owo individual and be doubled to ensure that Arakunrin Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN is re-elected as Executive Governor of Ondo State for the Second term.
As an Owo Indigene, I could not describe the overwhelming joy ,sense of satisfaction with tears in my eyes , and joy in my heart to witness the inauguration of the second Owo man as the Governor of the State, almost 33years after the Late Pa Micheal Adekunle Ajasin. I am proud to call him my Governor and I couldn’t be more pleased with the way he and some of his political appointees have represented Owo kingdom everywhere with their ceaseless demonstration of dignitaries, sound intellectual display and unparalleled innovation.
I felt a true sense of oneness as I witnessed our people rally together to show affection and support for Arakunrin Akeredolu administration in his zeal to transform Ondo state to giant hub of construction.
However, I am not blind, deaf or dumb to certain happenings within the APC , which I have joined as a sign of loyalty to Arakunrin Akeredolu. I recognize that Mr. Governor might have made one or two controversial decisions and rock the boat in recent years, but he has never made any mistakes or decisions which are not to the interest of the entire citizens of the state regardless of political affiliation.
Must we because of these controversial decisions abandon our own Son for another candidate who shares no bound with us? The time to institutionalize ‘OWO is ONE ‘ as a mechanism to guarantee electoral victory for Arakunrin , our Son is now!
It is on record that under the three and half years of Arakunrin Odunayo Akeredolu, Ondo State has witnessed unprecedented level of infrastructural development, human development and secured atmosphere that has attracted investment into the State. Arakunrin Akeredolu administration has constructed over 2,000kms of roads across the three(3) Senatorial districts, over 800 primary schools have been constructed and renovated, the magnificent Ore Interchange Bridge was constructed, the Ondo Linyi Industrial hub was founded e.t.c in all these, Owo has not been left out in term of development.
The Arakunrin Akeredolu reconstructed the shoddily work done on the dualized inner Owo road by previous administration, extends the dualization from Emure-ile junction to Otapete and from Ijebu-owo to iyere junction, constructed many street roads within Owo and facilitates employment of many of our people into state revenue board, civil service,OSOPADEC etc and also facilitate federal appointments for Owo.
Arakunrin Akeredolu has endeared himself to all our people with his actions to transform Owo into a place where every Owo person will be proud of. Hence, he must be supported to WIN the forthcoming APC primary election and the general election comes October 20,2020 and other contestants be encouraged to STAND DOWN for Arakunrin Akeredolu so that the chances of Owo is not jeopardize.
The other areas in Ondo state I.e AKOKO, AKURE and IKALE are equally interested in the seat and are only waiting for the opportunity to slip from our hands before they capitalize on it.
Finally, I am using the medium to appeal to our Traditional rulers, Opinion leaders, Political leaders and Youth leaders to come together and support the second term ambition of Arakunrin Akeredolu and rebrand the slogan “OWO IS ONE” to ensure the victory of our Son. The time for Owo to be truly ONE is Now. A Stitch in Time Saves Nine.
