BREAKING: Lady recording attack on ex-Governor's convoy shot dead

A woman has been shot dead during an attack on the convoy of a former Governor of Anambra State and ex-Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige.

The incident, according to Ngige’s former spokesman, Fred Chukwulobe, occurred along the Nkpor–Nnobi Road in Idemili North Local Government Area.

Although Ngige was not in the convoy at the time, the attackers reportedly opened fire on the pilot vehicle, injuring a policeman and carting away his rifle and uniform.

Chukwulobe said the gunmen, who were dressed in military and police uniforms, targeted the security personnel escorting the convoy.

He said a young woman who attempted to record the shooting on her phone was killed on the spot by the assailants.

A shop owner who rushed out to observe the commotion was also shot and sustained severe injuries but is expected to recover after surgery.

The escort team’s pilot vehicle was riddled with bullets during the exchange.

Chukwulobe added that Dr. Ngige had been briefed on the development and had expressed condolences to the family of the deceased lady, while also pledging support for the injured victims.

He noted that the Anambra State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the attack.
