The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has directed all public senior secondary schools in Abuja to close on or before Friday, November 28, citing rising security concerns across the country.
The order was conveyed in a memo issued on Tuesday by the Director of School Services, FCT Secondary Education Board, Aishatu Sani Alhassan.
According to the memo, school principals and heads of institutions have been instructed to suspend academic activities and ensure an orderly closure of their schools.
They are also expected to notify students, staff and parents; adjust their academic schedules accordingly; and await further directives ahead of the next official resumption date.
The directive comes amid heightened anxiety following recent attacks on schools in parts of the country, which have led to mass abductions and growing fears over the safety of students and teachers.
