Adekunle Ajasin University is set to hold its 55th inaugural lecture, with Professor Isaac Ayodele Ololade of the Department of Chemical Sciences billed to deliver the address.
The lecture, titled “Environmental Chemistry: The Science Behind a Healthier Planet,” will take place on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at the institution’s Multipurpose Hall in Akungba Akoko.
According to a statement by the Chairman of the University Ceremonies Committee and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Adebisi Daramola, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, will chair the event. The programme is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., with guests expected to be seated by 1:30 p.m.
Ololade, an Environmental Chemistry scholar, obtained his first degree in Industrial Chemistry from the University of Ibadan in 1998 and a Master’s degree in Analytical Chemistry from the same institution in 2001. He later earned a doctorate in Environmental Chemistry from the Federal University of Technology Akure in 2008 and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2011.
He joined AAUA as an Assistant Lecturer in 2001 and rose through the ranks to become a professor in 2017, contributing to teaching, research, postgraduate supervision and academic mentoring.
The don has also served the university in several administrative capacities, including as Dean of the Faculty of Science, Director of the Central Research Laboratory and Acting Head of the Department of Chemical Sciences, among other roles.
A prolific researcher, Ololade has published numerous articles in reputable journals and presented papers at conferences within and outside Nigeria. He has received several research grants and awards from local and international bodies in recognition of his scholarly contributions.
He is a member of professional bodies such as the Chemical Society of Nigeria, the Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
