The media team of Senator Olajide Ipinsagba has noted with concern the opinion article titled “In Defence of Ipinsagba: The Amukun Metaphor,” authored by Sola Ajisafe, Esq., and wishes to state clearly that the narrative contained in the piece is false, misleading and completely untrue.
While democratic society allows freedom of expression, it does not permit distortion of facts or deliberate misrepresentation of a serving lawmaker’s performance.
The attempt to portray Senator Ipinsagba as incapable of effective representation is inaccurate and disrespectful to the people of Ondo North Senatorial District who freely elected him.
Elections are not acts of pity or political charity. The mandate given to Senator Ipinsagba was earned through a legitimate democratic process and reflects the collective decision of the electorate.
Any suggestion that Ondo North did not send its best to the Senate is therefore baseless.
Contrary to claims of underperformance, the Senator has recorded visible achievements within less than two years in office. His proposed bill for the establishment of an ICT University in Ikare Akoko, which has passed the Senate, demonstrates a clear legislative vision focused on education and technological advancement.
In the area of education, more than 1,000 students have benefited from scholarships and bursaries, alongside yearly sponsorship of JAMB candidates across the district. Several schools have also benefited from classroom construction, renovation projects and distribution of learning materials.
Healthcare interventions have equally impacted residents through free eye medical outreach and surgeries conducted across local governments in Ondo North. Medical equipment has also been provided to public health facilities to improve service delivery.
The Senator has empowered farmers, youths and women through agricultural training, business support, ICT training and skills acquisition programmes aimed at promoting self reliance and economic growth.
Many beneficiaries have received tools, grants and support to expand their livelihoods. Also the Senator renovated classroom across Ondo North Senatorial District. Aside this, reconstruction of Oja-Oba market in Ikare Akoko is ongoing. Senator Ipinsagba also bulit modern market in Elegbeka, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Infrastructure development has also received attention through installation of solar lighting in communities, provision of transformers, construction of civic centres, boreholes and other community based projects that directly improve daily living conditions.
In addition, Senator Ipinsagba introduced direct town hall meetings across Ondo North to strengthen engagement between elected representatives and constituents.
This initiative has improved accountability and created a platform for citizens to express their needs directly.
It is therefore incorrect to describe these efforts as token gestures or to reduce the Senator’s performance to subjective opinions.
The facts on ground clearly contradict the narrative presented in the article.
Senator Ipinsagba remains committed to effective representation and sustainable development across Ondo North.
The media team urges commentators to rely on verifiable facts rather than unfounded claims capable of misleading the public.
