Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party and emerged as the party’s governorship candidate in Gombe State.
Pantami secured the ticket during the PDP governorship primary held in Gombe on Tuesday through a voice vote conducted by party delegates.
The former minister, who was the sole aspirant in the contest, was officially declared winner by the Chairman of the PDP Electoral Panel, Gregory Yenlong.
His emergence marks a major political development in the state ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Speaking shortly after his declaration, Pantami said his decision to contest was driven by his desire to serve the people of Gombe State.
He promised to provide inclusive leadership anchored on justice, fairness and development if elected governor.
The former minister also assured party members and residents of the state of his commitment to good governance and people-oriented policies.
