A former Senior Special Assistant to Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on Community Development, Olumuyiwa Ogunyemi, has emerged as the All Progressives Congress candidate for the 2027 Ondo State House of Assembly election in Akoko North East Constituency.
Ogunyemi, popularly known as “Eyiyato,” secured a landslide victory in the party’s primary election, defeating the incumbent lawmaker representing the constituency, Toyin Japhet.
According to the results announced by the Chairman of the Primary Election Committee, Adedayo Ariyo, Ogunyemi polled 8,210 votes to defeat Japhet, who scored 2,700 votes, while another aspirant, Olabode Akinnola, garnered 200 votes.
The committee secretary, High Chief Lawal Mufutau, also endorsed the outcome of the exercise.
Reacting to his victory, Ogunyemi expressed appreciation to APC leaders, delegates and party members for their support during the primary election.
He also commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and other party stakeholders for the confidence reposed in him.
The APC flagbearer assured residents of Akoko North East Constituency that he would deliver quality representation if elected into the Ondo State House of Assembly in 2027.
He pledged not to disappoint the people and promised to justify the mandate given to him through effective and people-oriented leadership.
