An Akoko-based man, Femi Olamitoke, has been arraigned before an Akungba-Akoko Magistrate’s Court in Ondo State over allegations that he stabbed a student, Adeyemi Abolaji, on the right hand with a knife.
Olamitoke was docked before Magistrate K.A. Kolawole on a two-count charge of assault arising from the alleged incident.
The prosecution, led by Inspector Olasunkanmi Boboye, told the court that the offence occurred on June 8, 2026, at about 8:10 p.m. within the Akungba-Akoko Magisterial District.
He further described the defendant as having a history of violent conduct, noting that attempts had previously been made to resolve related disputes amicably without success.
Boboye told the court that the alleged conduct contravenes Section 249(D) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
The defendant, however, denied the allegation and pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Defence counsel, Barrister Bode Wolemiwa, urged the court to grant bail on liberal terms, assuring that the defendant would not jump bail and would be available for trial.
In his ruling, Magistrate Kolawole granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with one surety in like sum.
The court directed that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and present a valid tax clearance certificate for the current year, while also ordering the police to verify the surety’s residence.
The case was adjourned to June 24, 2026, for further hearing.
