The Ogun State Police Command has taken three suspects into custody over the murder of former Ogun State Television employee, Olakitan Oyesiku, and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo.
The arrests were announced on Thursday by the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, who said investigators made significant progress after deploying intelligence resources, forensic techniques and digital tracking tools.
The victims were found dead at Oyesiku’s residence in the Owode-Egba area of the state on June 21. A Lexus RX 330 belonging to the deceased was also discovered to be missing after the attack.
Police said officers were alerted after concerns were raised about unusual happenings at the residence. Upon arrival, investigators reportedly found evidence suggesting that the property had been unlawfully accessed.
While Adetayo was discovered lifeless inside the security post, Oyesiku’s body was found within the main house.
The scene was subsequently examined by detectives as part of efforts to determine the circumstances surrounding the killings.
Ojajuni disclosed that investigators later recovered the missing vehicle through a coordinated operation.
He added that a handwritten document found at the scene yielded valuable clues after undergoing forensic examination.
The police chief identified the prime suspect as 22-year-old Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, who was arrested at a construction site in Abeokuta.
Two other suspects, Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, 27, and Sobu Obafunsho, 36, were later apprehended during follow-up operations.
According to the police, the principal suspect confessed to involvement in the crime and allegedly admitted bringing the other suspects into the plot. Detectives also recovered items believed to have been used during the attack.
Ojajuni assured residents that the investigation was still ongoing and that all those connected to the incident would be prosecuted in line with the law.
