Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, have rescued eight persons abducted by suspected kidnappers in various parts of the state.
The victims were reportedly seized during separate attacks, including an incident at Ilado Community in Akure North Local Government Area, where armed men invaded the area and carted away several residents.
Among those rescued was Fagbonmire Durojaiye, a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and a teacher, whose disappearance had sparked concern among church members and residents of the community.
Sources disclosed that the abductors had demanded N30 million from the victims' families before they could regain their freedom.
However, the Ondo State Commander of Amotekun said the captives were rescued without any ransom payment, describing the operation as a major success in the agency's anti-kidnapping campaign.
He explained that intelligence gathered by the corps led operatives to the hideout of the kidnappers, where a gun battle ensued between security personnel and the criminals.
The commander said the suspects fled under pressure during the exchange of gunfire, allowing the operatives to secure the release of all eight victims.
He commended the officers involved in the operation for their bravery and professionalism, adding that efforts were ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and support security agencies with credible information.
