The management of Bida Lions Football Club has called for an investigation into the ongoing Nationwide League One play-offs in the Lafia Centre, Nasarawa State, following what it described as irregularities surrounding the final group-stage fixtures.
The club's protest stems from the final group match between Mighty Jets Feeders of Jos and Flight FC of Gboko, Benue State, which ended in a 9-3 victory for the Plateau State side.
According to the club, the result enabled Mighty Jets Feeders to finish top of the group on goal difference despite having earlier lost to Bida Lions during the competition.
Bida Lions expressed concern over the circumstances surrounding the outcome, describing the scoreline as suspicious and calling on the league organisers to thoroughly investigate the match.
The club also criticised the organisers for failing to play the final round of group matches simultaneously, arguing that the decision was contrary to established competition standards and compromised the fairness of the qualification process.
It maintained that final group fixtures should have been played at the same time to prevent any team from gaining an unfair advantage based on earlier results.
The club further urged the organisers to review the qualification process, insisting that such a step was necessary to safeguard the credibility, integrity and transparency of the Nationwide League One.
The call for an investigation was contained in a statement signed by the club's secretary, El-Shafee Mohammed.
