The candidate of the African Democratic Congress for the Owo/Ose Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 House of Representatives election, Engr. Adebayo Adesida, has begun a series of consultations with party executives, stakeholders and members across the constituency as part of efforts to strengthen the party ahead of the polls.
Adesida, popularly known as Owo 4, held separate meetings on Thursday and Friday in Owo, Idoani and Ifon, where he outlined his campaign strategy and appealed for the support of party faithful.
Addressing members in Owo, the ADC candidate announced that the party had received approval to commence the sale of its nomination forms and urged members to remain united in preparation for the 2027 general election.
He assured party members of his commitment to building a stronger party structure while pursuing programmes aimed at advancing the development of Owo/Ose Federal Constituency.
Adesida disclosed that arrangements had been concluded to enhance the party's visibility through campaign-themed songs, dedicated social media platforms and sustained media engagement.
He also pledged to conduct an open and accountable campaign, stating that he would not establish a separate campaign organisation but would operate through the existing party structure.
According to him, all campaign finances would be managed transparently in line with the party's principles, while financial support would also be provided to strengthen ADC structures across the constituency.
The ADC Chairman in Owo Local Government, Hon. Modebola Fademine, urged members to remain united and committed to the party's growth, stressing the importance of loyalty, teamwork and dedication ahead of the elections.
The meeting also featured the formal presentation of Adesida as the party's House of Representatives candidate for Owo/Ose Federal Constituency.
During an interactive session, the ADC Women Leader in Ward 10, Iyere, called for greater inclusion of women and youths in party activities to deepen grassroots participation.
Speaking with journalists after the meeting, Adesida said his aspiration was driven by a desire to provide effective representation and improve the welfare of constituents.
He urged residents of Owo/Ose to assess his track record and vision, assuring them that he would pursue projects capable of addressing the constituency's developmental needs if elected.
The consultation continued on Friday at Idoani in Ose Local Government Area, where party leaders and members reaffirmed their commitment to mobilising support for the ADC.
The party's Vice Chairman in Ose Local Government, Hon. Tola Fadele, charged ward leaders to intensify grassroots mobilisation and voter sensitisation, expressing confidence in the party's chances in the election.
Addressing the gathering, Adesida identified the poor condition of federal roads in Ose as one of the major challenges confronting the area and pledged to facilitate their rehabilitation if elected.
He added that his experience in public service had equipped him with the knowledge required to provide quality legislative representation.
The Ose Local Government Chairman of the ADC, Alhaji Aliu Sulaiman, described the meeting as a vital step toward consolidating the party's structure ahead of the polls, urging members to sustain grassroots mobilisation across all wards.
Stakeholders at the meeting called for increased participation of women and youths in party activities, stronger collaboration between the candidate and ward leaders, and wider distribution of campaign materials.
Responding, Adesida assured members that campaign materials had already been produced and would be distributed across the constituency as the campaign progresses.
The ADC candidate later concluded the day's consultations in Ifon, where he again pledged to provide equitable representation for both Owo and Ose communities if elected.
He reiterated his commitment to facilitating road rehabilitation and attracting other developmental projects to the constituency, describing infrastructure as a critical area requiring legislative attention.
Speaking at the meeting, Alhaji Sulaiman said the gathering was convened to formally present Adesida to party members in Ifon and mobilise support ahead of the election.
Stakeholders urged the candidate to maintain transparency, fairness and close collaboration with party leaders throughout the campaign while intensifying voter mobilisation across communities.
Also speaking, the ADC Women Leader in Ose Local Government, Mrs. Babatunde Adejoke, described women as key drivers of successful political campaigns through grassroots mobilisation and community engagement.
She pledged the support of women across the local government for Adesida's candidature and appealed for sustained encouragement of women's participation throughout the campaign.
