Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has presented his Certificate of Return to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, following his victory in the August 15 governorship election.
Adeleke made the presentation on Thursday when he visited Wike in Abuja, shortly after receiving the certificate from the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The governor had earlier visited President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, as part of his engagements following his re-election.
Adeleke secured 511,067 votes to defeat the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.
The African Democratic Congress candidate, Najeem Salaam, finished third with 17,180 votes.
The outcome of the election has attracted political attention, particularly against the backdrop of Wike’s earlier comments on the contest.
Wike had previously stated that he would have travelled to Osun during the election if there had been a directive from President Tinubu for the APC candidate to win the poll at all costs.
Adeleke’s visit to Wike came amid continued political engagements following his declaration as the winner of the closely contested election.
