A 50-year-old self-styled prophet, Nicholas Nusa, has been arrested by the Edo State Police Command over the alleged abduction of five female children in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of the state.
Nusa, who is the overseer of Divine Grace Church on Imoga Road, Ibillo, was also accused of impregnating one of the girls, who is 15 years old.
The children were allegedly taken from Ibillo and Imoga communities at different times between September 2025 and April 2026 before they were reportedly kept at the suspect’s residence.
The Edo State Police Public Relations Officer, Eno Ikoedem, said the suspect was arrested after the command received information about the alleged offences.
Ikoedem said preliminary investigation showed that the children were allegedly abducted separately during the period, adding that Nusa had confessed to the allegations while being interrogated by detectives.
She disclosed that the 15-year-old victim had undergone a Caesarean section and was receiving treatment at a hospital under the care of the Brave Heart Organisation.
The police spokesperson said efforts were underway to locate and reunite the other victims with their families.
She added that investigation was continuing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged abductions and ensure appropriate action was taken against the suspect.
