A female passenger has been killed after falling from a motorcycle and coming under a truck on the Agbara-Lusada Expressway in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The crash occurred around 7pm on Saturday at Cashier Bus Stop when the motorcycle was reportedly trying to overtake the truck along the busy highway.
An eyewitness, Kunle, told PUNCH Metro on Sunday that the woman lost her balance during the manoeuvre and fell onto the road, where she was run over by the truck.
The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency spokesperson, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident, identifying the truck as a white Howo with registration number T-34611LA. Two motorcycles were also involved, although their registration numbers were not displayed.
Akinbiyi said five people were involved in the crash, comprising three men and two women, while two victims, a man and a woman, sustained injuries.
He attributed the crash to alleged wrongful overtaking by one of the motorcycle riders, which caused the female passenger to fall beneath the truck.
The TRACE spokesperson added that the injured victims were taken to a hospital by a good Samaritan before officials arrived, while the deceased was later claimed by her family.
He said TRACE personnel and PAPA OSCAR responders attended to the scene, while the truck was transferred to police custody for further investigation.
Traffic movement was subsequently restored on the highway.
