A family in Agbado, Ogun State, is seeking help to locate a teenager, Imole Ilesanmi, who reportedly disappeared after leaving home on Sunday, September 20, 2026.
Imole was said to have left the family’s residence at about 3pm after preparing food for her father, with the family later learning that she intended to visit the Popóshóla area.
Her father told PUNCH Metro that attempts to reach her by phone initially yielded no result, although the line continued to ring from Sunday until Monday morning.
The distraught father said the family reported the matter at Agbado Police Station, adding that a cleric identified simply as Alfa was initially detained but later released. He expressed concern that the cleric could have information useful to the search.
However, the cleric denied seeing Imole on the day she disappeared, insisting that the teenager had told people she was heading to Popóshóla rather than his residence.
Alfa said he was detained for a day and maintained that a police officer was with him at his home throughout Sunday before accompanying him to the station.
Meanwhile, Imole’s sister, Ayomide Ilesanmi, said the family had received conflicting reports about the teenager’s whereabouts since her photographs and details were shared online.
Ayomide said some residents claimed to have seen Imole walking around the neighbourhood before she disappeared, while other reports circulating on social media about her whereabouts had turned out to be false.
She added that the family had visited churches and a mosque to pray for Imole’s safe return, appealing to anyone with credible information about her whereabouts to assist in locating her.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Babaseyi Oluseyi, had yet to respond to enquiries about the case as of press time. However, a senior police officer familiar with the matter confirmed that the case had been reported but declined to disclose further details.
