Aiyedatiwa’s aide hails governor over support for aircraft recovery in Igbokoda

The Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor on Ecological Control and Technical Affairs, Ebijimi Elisha, has praised Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for providing technical and logistical support for the ongoing aircraft recovery operation in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area of the state.

Elisha said the governor’s prompt intervention had facilitated the operation through the provision of technical expertise, manpower and heavy-duty equipment to overcome the difficult terrain at the recovery site.

The commendation followed a visit to Igbokoda by the Air Officer Commanding, Tactical Air Command, Air Vice Marshal M.C. Ekwueme, on the directive of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke.

The visit came after an aircraft incident that claimed the lives of Nigerian Air Force personnel and concerns raised by the Olu of Igbokoda, Oba Odidiomo Afolabi O. Ilarada, over possible water contamination and environmental damage arising from the recovery exercise.

Elisha said Aiyedatiwa had directed him to provide immediate technical assistance and coordinate the necessary support for the operation, adding that his team had been working closely with the Nigerian Air Force and other personnel.

He explained that heavy machinery had been deployed and access bridges constructed to ease movement to the recovery site, despite the difficult terrain and operational challenges.

The governor’s aide added that engagements with the traditional ruler and residents had helped maintain cordial relations between the community and personnel involved in the operation.

During the visit, Ekwueme met with community leaders and residents to address concerns about the possible impact of the exercise on local water sources and the surrounding environment.

He acknowledged their concerns and assured them of the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to responsible operations and sustained community engagement.

Elisha commended the Air Force leadership and the people of Igbokoda for their cooperation, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to supporting the recovery operation while promoting environmental protection and constructive engagement with the host community.
