A video circulating on social media has allegedly shown armed bandits using a rocket-propelled grenade launcher in the preparation of semo at a hideout.
The footage was shared on Sunday by conflict reporter and safe-society advocate, D English Alhaji, on Facebook, although the location and identities of those seen in the video were not independently verified.
In the video, the armed men are purportedly seen handling an RPG launcher while preparing the food, in a bizarre scene that has attracted attention online.
The development comes against the backdrop of persistent insecurity across parts of northern Nigeria, where armed groups have continued to carry out attacks, kidnappings and other violent activities.
Bandit groups operating in the affected areas have frequently targeted remote communities, travellers and motorists, with several incidents resulting in abductions, deaths and destruction of property.
The activities of the groups have also disrupted farming and other economic activities in rural communities, deepening concerns over food security and the safety of residents.
Security agencies have continued to conduct operations against bandits in several northern states as authorities seek to contain attacks and dismantle criminal camps.
The video, however, does not independently establish when or where the footage was recorded, and the circumstances surrounding the reported use of the weapon remain unclear.
