The lawmaker representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Festus Akingbaso, has described the death of elder statesman and prominent Yoruba leader, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, as a major loss to Nigeria, Ondo State and the Yoruba nation.
Akingbaso said the late Fasoranti, whose influence extended beyond Akure and Ondo State, would be remembered for his commitment to national unity, democratic principles and the advancement of the Yoruba people.
The lawmaker described the deceased as a patriot and respected voice whose wisdom, courage and principled leadership remained valuable to the country, particularly at a critical period in its political and economic development.
He also acknowledged Fasoranti’s contributions to governance and nation-building, noting that his dedication to public service and the welfare of the Yoruba people earned him a place among the country’s revered elder statesmen.
According to Akingbaso, the late leader’s commitment to peaceful coexistence and national cohesion made him an influential figure whose advice, experience and moral authority would be greatly missed.
He added that Fasoranti’s life of integrity, selflessness and service to humanity would remain a source of inspiration to younger generations and those committed to the progress of the country.
The lawmaker, on behalf of his family, associates and constituents in Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency, extended his condolences to the deceased’s family, Akure Kingdom, the Ondo State Government and people, as well as Nigerians at home and abroad.
Akingbaso prayed to God to comfort the bereaved family and grant them the strength to endure the loss, while asking for the peaceful repose of the late elder statesman’s soul.
