The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has directed its leaders and members to intensify grassroots mobilisation through ward and polling-unit meetings, with a focus on encouraging eligible voters to collect their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The directive was contained in a statement signed by Olawale Ijanusi, popularly known as Optimum, the Special Assistant on New Media to the state APC chairman, Hon. Kolawole Babatunde. The meetings are scheduled to begin on Friday, October 23, across the state’s 203 wards.
Babatunde urged ward chairmen, polling-unit leaders, party executives and other stakeholders to make the meetings effective platforms for engaging residents and mobilising eligible voters to obtain their PVCs before the deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The party said the meetings would strengthen its grassroots structures and improve coordination among members, particularly as political activities gather momentum ahead of the next general elections.
The mobilisation drive is also expected to support the party’s target of securing one million votes in Ondo State, a goal associated with Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and the state party leadership.
“The strength of any serious political party lies in its wards and polling units. Politics is local, and elections are won through effective grassroots mobilisation,” the statement said, stressing the importance of sustained engagement at the community level.
The APC called on members across the state’s 18 local government areas to participate actively in the meetings, promote unity and ensure that eligible voters understand the importance of collecting their PVCs and participating in the electoral process.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its grassroots presence, saying the drive towards its one-million-vote target would depend largely on effective ward and polling-unit organisation, voter mobilisation and sustained engagement with residents.
