The Corporate Affairs Commission has unveiled new compulsory information requirements for anyone seeking to update business name records through its online portal.
The announcement, shared on the commission’s X page on Wednesday, said applicants will now have to supply more detailed personal and contact information before their requests can be processed.
“Under the new guidelines, every Business Name Online Update submission must include date of birth, registered office email, proprietor’s email address, phone number for the registered office or proprietor, where different and a valid means of identification,” CAC stated.
The commission explained that the revised rules are part of wider reforms meant to reinforce the credibility of its documentation system, limit fraudulent entries, and improve communication with registered business owners.
It noted that the additional data points would help streamline verification, strengthen its database and make compliance checks easier.
Entrepreneurs were advised to ensure full compliance with the new directives to avoid delays in approval of their update applications.
The CAC, which regulates business registration and administration in the country, has continued to expand its digital operations in recent years to provide faster and more accessible services for users.
